Whether we rent or own a home, we all want our homes and landscapes to be well maintained and cared for.
Curb appeal has a major effect on property values. One house with bad curb appeal can have a negative effect on property values in the entire neighborhood. The resale value of a home is based on the neighborhood, and curb appeal is a major factor.
Most of Mission Bend Area Subdivisions are regulated by deed restrictions, meaning that we have Homeowner Association deed restrictions that we have to comply with. Maintaining our landscape is one of these deed restrictions.
Most of us have a very strict budget, and do not have a lot of money to spend on plants or landscaping materials. A Plant Swap is a way of obtaining plants and such without spending any out-of-pocket money.
The intent is that everyone will be able to improve the curb appeal of their home by “Bartering not Buying”. If you have a yard and garage, you have something to barter with.
The pictures on this website, unless otherwise indicated, were taken by Donna Kinerd, at her home in the Greater Mission Bend Area, where she has lived for over 30 years.
The pictures were taken over a period of several years. Donna has gotten at least 95% of her plants by “Bartering not Buying”.
Don’t know the name of every plant in your yard? No problem, most people don’t. There will be knowledgeable people at the swap that can help identify plants.
See other pages on this website for details about this very important and fun event.
This website is intended to be a source of year-round plant and gardening information. Your pictures, suggestions and information are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Greater Mission Bend Area Council Plant Swap.
